Titanium Grade 5 is the most commonly used Titanium worldwide and is the most commonly used alloy in the oilfield. Titanium Grade 5 is an alloyed titanium and is considered to be an alpha-beta alloy. Titanium Grade 5 is alloyed with 6% Aluminum and 4% Vanadium and is commonly known as Ti 6Al-4V. Titanium Engineers produces titanium bar, seamless tube and titanium machined components in Titanium Grade 5.

This alpha-beta alloy is the workhorse alloy of the titanium industry. The alloy is fully heat treatable in section sizes up to 15mm and is used up to approximately 400 Deg C (750 Deg F). Since it is the most commonly used alloy — over 70% of all alloy grades melted are a sub-grade of Ti6A14V, its uses span many aerospace airframe and engine component uses and also major non-aerospace applications in the marine, offshore and power generation industries in particular.
The addition of 0.05% palladium, (grade 24), 0.1 % ruthenium (grade 29) and 0.05% palladium and 0.5% nickel (grade 25) significantly increase corrosion resistance in reducing acid, chloride and sour environments, raising the threshold temperature for attack to well over 200 Deg C (392 Deg F).
Known as the "workhorse" of the titanium alloys, Ti 6Al-4V, or Grade 5, is the most commonly used of all titanium alloys. It accounts for 50 percent of total titanium usage the world over.lts usability lies in its many benefits. Ti 6Al-4V may be heat treated to increase its strength. It can be used in welded construction at service temperatures of up to 600'' E This alloy offers its high strength at a light weight, useful formability and high corrosion resistance.
Ti-6Al-4V, Titanium Grade 5 alloy (UNS R56400) is the most widely used titanium grade. It is a two phase 0+13 titanium alloy, with aluminum as the alpha stabilizer and vanadium as the beta stabilizer. This high-strength alloy can be used at cryogenic temperatures to about 800 Deg F (427 Deg C). Ti-6Al-4V, Grade 5 alloy is used in the annealed condition and in the solution treated and aged conditiom Some applications include: compressor blades, discs. and rings for jet engines; airframe and space capsule components; pressure vessels; rocket engine cases; helicopter rotor hubs; fasteners; critical forgings requiring high strength-to-weight ratios.
