UNS S31803 duplex stainless steel chromium nickel molybdenum austenitic ferritic grade. It combines improved resistance to stress corrosion cracking, pitting, crevice corrosion and high strength in comparison with other stainless steel grades. UNS S31803 grade duplex resists chloride environments and sulphide stress corrosion. It is approximately double the yield strength of standard austenitic stainless steel grades. As with other duplex stainless steel specifications oxidation resistance is good at high temperature, though it is prone to embrittlement when exposed to temperatures above 300°C and is prone to embrittlement at 475°C when exposed for 2 hours only. It is also subject to embrittlement between 370-540°C when exposed over a longer period.

The duplex microstructure gives this grade high strength UNS S32750 a low coefficient of thermal expansion and higher heat conductivity than austenitic steels and is suitable for working temperatures up to 300°C.
Listed in NACE MR 01 75 for sour service UNS S32750 and having gained ASME Approval for Pressure Vessel applications it can be used in a wide variety of applications.
